Women's History Month-Becoming the women God created us to be
It’s Monday, y’all!
Welcome to March and Women’s History Month. I hope you all had a great weekend.
According to Webster’s Dictionary, to make history means “to do something very important or famous and that will be remembered as part of history.”
Celebrating Women and the Journey of Becoming
Women’s History Month is a beautiful time to honor the countless ways women have shaped the world. Today I’m reminded that becoming a great woman is a journey—one that begins in childhood. It’s a road never meant to be walked alone, but one paved by learning who God says we are, surrounded by a village of women who pour in the oil of experience, offer space and grace to grow, and allow room for both the moments we get it right and the moments we don’t.
Motherhood, Legacy, and Vision
If you know me, you know how seriously I take being a mom to my two beautiful daughters. As a mother, I want them to become women who “make history” and impact the world with their God‑given creativity.
This weekend we had our annual eye appointments. You know how it goes—the optometrist flips through different lenses, asking which view is clearer. As I watched, I was reminded that we can all look at the same row of letters and still see something different. Sometimes we need corrective lenses to help us see what’s been in front of us the whole time.
Just like those letters, God’s plan doesn’t change even when our vision does. When we can’t see clearly, He adjusts our view just like the blind man in Mark 8: 24-25. And because of that, whichever boardroom my daughters one day sit in—whatever invention they create, whatever family they build—I rest knowing this: salvation is already part of their history. It’s a gift that can never be taken from them and one they can share with every girl and woman they meet.
Scripture
Mark 8:24-25 NLT
[24] The man looked around. “Yes,” he said, “I see people, but I can’t see them very clearly. They look like trees walking around.” [25] Then Jesus placed his hands on the man’s eyes again, and his eyes were opened. His sight was completely restored, and he could see everything clearly.
Prayer
Father God, I’m so thankful for every woman reading this post. Thank You for the thoughtful detail You used when You created us. Lord, may our history always begin with You, and may our light shine because our hope is in You. Help us to keep our eyes on You so that our view is clear and aligned with Your will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Reflect
- What part of your story is God currently bringing into clearer focus?
- What kind of history do you feel God calling you to make in this season?
