Notice What You Notice
Happy Motivational Monday, y’all.
I’m a thinker — and depending on the day, that can feel like a beautiful gift or a fast track to a mental spiral. One moment I’m reflecting, and the next I’m knee‑deep in what‑ifs, what isn’t, and why is this taking so long.
But when I slow down long enough, I usually discover something deeper behind the spiral:
a fear I didn’t check,
a conversation I’ve been avoiding,
or — the biggest culprit — playing mental ping‑pong instead of praying.
Because spirals don’t start with one thought. They start with a series of unnoticed ones.
What I’m learning is this: I have to slow down and notice what I notice.
Here are a few questions that help me reset:
- What conversations am I participating in — are they feeding my spirit or draining it
- Am I praying daily — or am I trying to carry everything alone
- Am I reading God’s Word — receiving fresh reminders of what He says about me
- Am I holding on to old hurt — and do I need help working it out
And here’s the reflection question I want you to sit with this week:
What did you notice about your thoughts today — and what might God be trying to show you through that?
This question slows you down just enough to see the patterns forming beneath the surface. It helps you catch the moment where your thoughts drift from truth to fear, from clarity to confusion, from peace to pressure.
You don’t have to stay in unhealthy thinking patterns — and neither do I.
Awareness is the first step toward freedom.
Honesty is the first step toward healing.
And slowing down is the first step toward hearing God clearly.
Scripture to Anchor Your Thoughts
Philippians 4:8 AMP
“…whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word… think continually on these things.”
This verse becomes a filter for your mind.
If a thought doesn’t align with truth, peace, or God’s Word — you don’t have to agree with it.
Prayer (Personalize this)
Father God, my thoughts can be loud, and sometimes the things I believe don’t align with what You say about me. As we move through this week, help us slow down. Make room in our hearts and minds to hear Your truth clearly, and let that be what we agree with. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
