Parking Lot perspective

For months, I pulled up to this sign as I parked in the hospital parking garage for daily radiation. It worked out that I always had 10 or 15 minutes to spare when I arrived. In the beginning, I was full of fear and anxiety, whispering prayers to cover myself before walking into the hospital.

In this picture, you not only see the sign signaling that this was a designated parking spot—look closely, and you’ll see a shadow. That’s me, standing outside my car, taking the photo.

That day, God transformed my thinking. He reminded me that I was covered—but there were people inside that hospital who needed to see Him. Some needed a quiet prayer whispered on their behalf. And as small as it may seem, some needed to see a smile—just one—to be encouraged and motivated to keep going.

So from the next day forward, when I pulled into that spot, I started asking God: What would You have me do or say when I walk into the hospital today?

You see, for a time, my body was physically carrying cancer. But God saw fit to allow me to be a vessel—to pour into other people’s spirits.

Question:

What challenge are you facing that might actually be an opportunity to encourage someone else?
